About Black Swan IT

Founded in 2008 by Julia Sykes-Turner, Black Swan IT is a small website development company set up to help organisations and businesses establish an online presence. Initially building websites from simple HTML, Julia soon saw a need for website owners to be able to update their own websites. So the move towards Joomla! began.

A bit about Julia ...

Julia was trained in Information Technology at Swinburne University in 1996 after several years of teaching computing to Year 11 and 12 students. She was hired by an insurance company for over 10 years to look after some of their computing systems, before leaving to set up her own website business in Melbourne's bayside suburb of Hampton.

Why the name "Black Swan IT"?

Julia's first place of employment in programming was close to Albert Park Lake, where the black swans glide - often with their cygnets - for much of the year.

Watching the swans during lunch breaks was a joy that Julia chose to take with her into the name of her new business. If you ever have a tricky problem to solve, there's nothing like the serenity of swans to help open your mind to solutions.

And the icing on the cake? Julia often spies black swans bobbing around on the bay near Hampton! Beautiful.
